Dr. Barry Rothman, voted "Best Health Care Professional" by the residents of Alexandria, takes great pride and joy in being a physician. As a father of three girls, Dr. Rothman gives each patient the care and attention he would want and expect his family to receive. His depth of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology is extensive, with special focus in high-risk births, infertility, and endoscopic surgery. Dr. Rothman currently is the chairman of the Department of OB/GYN at Inova Alexandria Hospital. He has also been voted one of Washingtonian Magazine's "Best Physicians." A native of the Washington, D.C. area, Dr. Rothman has provided women's healthcare in Alexandria since 1979. He completed medical school and his residency training at George Washington University, where he received special recognition as chief resident in his senior year. Dr. Rothman is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also a member of many societies including the American Fertility Society, the Gynecological Laser Society, and the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Fern Grapin attended both medical school and residency at George Washington University where she graduated with honors. She joined the practice in 1987 and has established herself as a well-respected physician in the community. Dr. Grapin is well versed in all facets of Obstetrics and Gynecology, but has a special interest in reproductive endocrinology, menopause management, adolescent gynecology, and preventive healthcare. Dr. Grapin is a believer in the patient's full involvement in healthcare decisions. As a mother of two children, she is a support to working mothers and understands their unique problems. Dr. Grapin is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the American Fertility Society, the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the Virginia OB/GYN Society. She is active in the Quality Assurance Committee at Alexandria Hospital and extends this to all aspects of her practice. Dr. Alice McKnight is a native Washingtonian, who joined the practice in 1990. She attended medical school at The Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her residency training at Howard University in 1986. She practiced at The Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and at a public health facility in Alexandria, Va. prior to joining the practice, which enabled her to gain a great deal of experience in various gynecologic disease states. Her special interests lie in high-risk pregnancies, adolescent gynecology, gynecologic infectious diseases, and laparoscopic and laser procedures. Dr. McKnight is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American Fertility Society, the Medical Society of the District of Columbia, the American Medical Association, and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals. Dr. Marc Siegel joined the practice in 1995, after graduating from Georgetown University Medical School and completing his residency training at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. A native Washingtonian, Dr. Siegel and his wife welcome the opportunity to return to their roots in the area. As a father of three young children, Dr. Siegel understands the joys as well as the challenges of raising a family under today's pressures. Dr. Sonia Salgado was born and raised on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico, and completed her specialty training at St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital. At Andrew’s Air Force Base, she was the Chairperson of the OB/GYN Department. Dr. Salgado joins our practice in 2007 with 17 years experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology. As a professional woman, a military officer, a wife and a mother, she has learned the importance of team work. Dr. Salgado employs the “team work” philosophy in working with her patients, and enjoys the patient who comes prepared with her questions and research. As a Board Certified physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology, this doctor has particular interest in vulvar disorders, sexual dysfunction issues, and hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Salgado is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and currently sits on the Quality Assurance Committee at Alexandria Hospital. Dr. Hibshman is a volunteer for the Red Cross, helping out our United States Navy personnel. Professionally, Dr. Hibshman enjoys all aspects of OB/GYN. She particularly loves working with our young patients to insure that their first GYN experience is a good one. She believes in educating her patients to set them up to make healthy life choices.
